The companion to the No.8 (10 ¼”) cast iron skillet, our pre-seasoned 10 ¼” cast iron lid includes vintage-style self-basting ridges for easy stovetop and oven braising. Made in the USA.

The companion to the No.8 (10 ¼”) cast iron skillet, our pre-seasoned 10 ¼” cast iron lid includes vintage-style self-basting ridges for easy stovetop and oven braising. Made in the USA.

A tight-fitting 10 ¼" cast iron lid turns your Field skillet into an all-purpose cast iron steaming, braising, and melting tool.

Vintage-style self-basting ridges on the lid underside collect moisture and ensure it drips evenly across the cooking surface, keeping stovetop and oven braises simmering smoothly.

The No.8 Cast Iron Lid is an exact match for the No.8 Field Skillet and No.8 Dutch Oven. Field sizing is based on vintage cast iron conventions, so our No.8 size means a 10 ¼" width, edge-to-edge.

Dimensions:

  • 10 ¼" diameter
  • 4 lbs
  • 4 ½" height (closed, including skillet)

Field cast iron lids are 100% cast iron, including the seasoned cast iron knob.

Seasoned cast iron is safe for high-heat cooking and breadmaking, making our lid a better option that ceramic or enamel-coated products, or lids with synthetic knobs.

Field lids are Made in the USA, like all Field cast iron cookware. We source recycled iron from American vendors, and use green sand molds to pour cast iron.

Cast iron lids are seasoned with multiple coats of grapeseed oil. No synthetic coatings, Teflon, or other materials.

Hand-wash only and dry promptly. Apply Field Seasoning Oil after use to maintain seasoning and prevent rust.

Like all cast iron cookware, our cast iron lids should never be cleaned in the dishwasher, or left to drip or air-dry.

    Really good quality

I’ve never had a good cast iron skillet…until now. Admittedly , this was sort of an impulse buy. What sold me was the “smooth bottom” which turned out to be absolutely correct. With a little preheating and a little butter and/or olive oil, my eggs slide around nicely in the morning…and are WAY better than if frying in an aluminum/teflon pan.

    Perfect lid

What more can I say. It's a beautifully casted lid. It also fits perfect on the Lodge and Stargazer 10.25" skillets.

    Lid

It's a lot heavier than I expected. Unlike the skillet. The weight of the skillet is oerfect.

    Wonderful Pan

My mother purchased a glass top stove a little while ago. Her go to #8 pan concerned me. It didn't sit flat. It worked for the old fashion electric range and a gas stove. Glass top, to so much. After some research, I found Field recommended for glass top. I purchased one and have been very happy. It sits flat on the stove. Just have to finish seasoning so I can really put it through its paces.
