Our No.8 Dutch Oven is factory seasoned for a naturally non-stick finish. It holds 4.5 quarts making it the perfect size for everyday baking, braising, and more. And at just 6.5 pounds, it’s easy to move from the stovetop to the oven or table.

Our No.8 Dutch Oven is factory seasoned for a naturally non-stick finish. It holds 4.5 quarts making it the perfect size for everyday baking, braising, and more. And at just 6.5 pounds, it’s easy to move from the stovetop to the oven or table.

The 4.5 quart cast iron Dutch Oven is an all-purpose kitchen tool, especially suited to sourdough bread baking, low-and-slow braising, baked pasta, and all kinds of frying.

Our vintage-style all-cast iron design's non-stick cooking performance comes starts with grapeseed oil pre-seasoning and develops with time and use—and not flimsy engineered coatings. The No.8 Dutch Oven comes an exact-fit self-basting lid to ensure roasts and braises cook evenly, whether on the stovetop, in the oven, or over the campfire.

Field cast iron cookware match traditional vintage sizing conventions, where the “number” corresponds not to diameter in inches, but to the burner ring size on an old-fashioned wood-burning stove. That means a 4.5 quart No.8 Dutch Oven is actually wider than 8 inches. (It’s tricky, we know.)

Here’s how we measure up:

  • 4.5-quart volume
  • 10 ¼” top diameter
  • 7 ⅞ base diameter
  • 6.5 lbs (base); 10.5 lbs (with lid)
  • 4.4" height

Well-seasoned cast iron cookware delivers a naturally non-stick cooking surface without harmful chemicals or engineered coatings. Your Dutch oven will arrive pre-seasoned, so it’s ready to cook right away.

Cast iron gets hot and stays hot, making it the best material for stovetop searing, oven-roasting vegetables, and especially sourdough baking.

Field cast iron cookware is compatible with all stovetop burner types, including glass and ceramic induction ranges.

Field Cast Iron is 100% Made in the USA. We work with recycled iron sourced from American vendors, and pour our cast iron cookware using green sand castings—just like the most celebrated vintage cast iron manufacturers, Griswold and Wagner.

Our naturally non-stick cooking surface comes from multiple coats of grapeseed oil pre-seasoning. No teflon, no dirty tricks.

Like all great tools, cast iron cookware gets better with time and use.

To keep your No.8 Dutch Oven in top condition:

  • Pre-heat on low for up to 5 minutes before you start cooking.
  • Use acidic ingredients sparingly.
  • Clean according the Field Method for Cast Iron Care & Maintenance.
  • Hand-wash only. Never in the dishwasher.
  • Towel dry or heat to dry on the stovetop. Never drip-dry or store wet.

Most importantly, cook often!

    Amazing dutch oven

I thought we'd be braising pot roast dinners more, but my wife uses it to make sour dough bread every other day. She loves it, but hated our previous cast iron dutch oven.

    Game changer!

I had a similar pan from another company. I bought this one for our camping trailer. It has become my main Dutch oven, and goes on the road as well! It’s perfectly sized and cleans up well. It really is nonstick. I will be purchasing another Field cast iron pan.

The perfect size for two people

The vintage look but modern feel makes this Dutch oven work so well with numerous dishes. The 5-quart size is perfect for two people with enough room for leftovers. I love my Field Company cast iron.

    Great little Dutch Oven!

Love this piece of cast iron goodness! The size is perfect for 3-4 people. Fit and finish is typical Field Company . Smooth enough to clean easily, but textured enough to take seasoning well. So far, we have made homemade French fries, pop corn and our favorite venison chili recipe with fire roasted tomatoes, pumpkin and cinnamon. Pairs well with the No. 8 Field skillet as the lid fits both.
